He's Lying

Yup, you caught me, and the lie is this:

Every time that you saw those pointy brackets < > I had in fact typed & lt & gt.

I had to do this because web browsers never show the < > of html commands or any of the stuff between them. This is true even if the browser doesn't recognize the stuff between them as a command! (This is actually a good idea because that way a simpler browser can still do a reasonable job of showing a page.)

And this page itself has one more lie. To show the & lt & gt above, I had to type &lt &gt because I wanted to ampersands to show.
